Ian Dollenmayer participates in new D.C. Flyers internship program

2014 Jul 9

Ian Dollenmayer, from Independence, KY, participated in the University of Dayton's D.C. Flyers internship program this summer, one of 15 UD students selected.

During the 10-week internship, Ian had the opportunity to develop personal talents and gain real-world experience through a placement with Alaska Congressman, Don Young, and Speaker of the House, John Boehner.

D.C. Flyers, launched by the University Honors program and the political science department, is part of a continued effort to provide students with opportunities to enrich their education through experiential learning.

The program provided networking opportunities as well. It intentionally sought to engage students with the Dayton alumni base in the D.C. area, with more than a third of the students placed with or through a D.C. area alumnus.

"This experience has allowed me to be at least a small part of the representative system and strengthened my resolve to be a part of Congress in some way in the future," Ian said.
