Gen Li joined an elite group of students in a unique study abroad experience at the University of Dayton China Institute.

Gen started in January at the institute in Suzhou, China, as part of the first class to kick off the program's first full semester of classes.

Courses offered in the program include business courses such as macroeconomics and business ethics, engineering courses including project management and innovation, and courses such as Asian history and Chinese language and culture, that take advantage of the study abroad experience.

As part of the learning experience, Gen will have an opportunity to interact and conduct hands-on projects with the University of Dayton's partner companies in Suzhou, including Emerson Climate Technologies, GE Aviation, Johnson & Johnson Medical and Lilly Pharmaceutical.

Gen will also hear guest speakers from multinational companies and guest faculty from the University's partner universities in seminars on Chinese culture and society and on topics that range from how to do business in China to appreciating the culture's music and art, and the practice of tai chi.

Gen will also travel to explore the rich histories and contemporary growth of major cities including Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing and Beijing.

The University of Dayton China Institute is 75 miles from Shanghai in the ultramodern Higher Education District of Suzhou Industrial Park. The park is home to 25 universities from around the world and one-third of the world's Fortune 500 companies.
