The University of Dayton division of student development honored Abigail Spohn with the Mary Shay Award of Excellence in Both Academic and Extracurricular Activities that's given to a senior with a 3.0 grade-point average or higher who has shown exceptional commitment to their academic and co-curricular activities..

Abigail is involved in the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Society of Materials, the Society for Manufacturing Engineers, SPIE (Optics/Photonics), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers and the River Stewards program. She also was a 2014 graduate of Leadershape National Institute for Leadership. Her involvement in the community with these organizations includes TechFest and experiential learning experiences for nearly 2,000 children and outreach activities to K-12 students to help them learn of opportunities in science, math and engineering.
